Why did I start CloseCULTURE?
I started closeCULTURE because representation is everything. Early in my natural hair journey Afros and kinky hair was not glamorized. Hair like mines wasn’t mainstream. But over the years more and more women have been learning to love their natural tresses. Seeing more women rock their natural hair in everyday life and in the media has helped normalized “naps”. Our curls and coils are so unique and deserves to be celebrated and closeCULTURE does just that!!! closeCULTURE was created to showcase how beautiful every texture of our hair. Whether it’s a full on tightly coiled Afro or wavy flowy curls the beauty of natural hair deserves to be represented in a positive light!!!
